Guido Walt is an internationally recognized maintenance specialist, industrial consultant, and advocate for workforce development in the field of maintenance and asset management. He is the Founder of Wear-Management Switzerland, established in 2001, and serves as a respected member of the global maintenance and reliability community through his active involvement in European maintenance initiatives and technical standardization efforts.
With more than two decades of international experience, Guido Walt has contributed extensively to maintenance engineering, industrial workforce competency development, maintenance strategy, and operational excellence. Through Wear-Management Switzerland, he has supported organizations in strengthening maintenance performance, technical capability development, reliability practices, and long-term asset sustainability across industrial sectors.
Guido Walt has also been actively involved with the European Federation of National Maintenance Societies (EFNMS), contributing to the advancement of maintenance professionalism, European cooperation, and technical competency frameworks for the maintenance industry. His work has supported initiatives focused on strengthening qualification pathways, knowledge transfer, and maintenance excellence across Europe.
In addition, he has contributed to the development and promotion of the CEN Technical Committee 319 standards framework, particularly related to CEN/TR 15628 and EN 15628 concerning qualification and competency requirements for maintenance personnel. These standards have become important references for defining maintenance workforce capabilities, technical skills, and professional development structures within industrial organizations.
Guido Walt is also recognized as an international speaker and contributor to global maintenance forums and congresses. During the World Maintenance Forum 2019, he delivered a presentation highlighting the importance of apprenticeships and workforce development in securing the future of industrial maintenance and engineering professions. His advocacy emphasizes the critical role of technical education, practical training, and next-generation talent development in sustaining industrial reliability and operational resilience.
As a member of the Advisory Board of the International Maintenance Association (IMA), Guido Walt contributes strategic insight and international expertise to support the advancement of maintenance, reliability engineering, asset management, and industrial workforce capability development on a global scale.
